I was surprised and pleased to see in my March issue of Bicycling magazine that other uses for pressure mapping are becoming more mainstream. A company called Body Geometry™ provided bike seat pressure mapping to provide the most comfortable ride possible for those who purchase this "saddle." Like many of the patients that we serve, bicyclists can take a lot. Still, they love a comfortable seat and where the rubber meets the road (so to speak) they will often pay top dollar for a comfortable, well-designed seat. I immediately thought of our fragile patients and how many obstacles that they bravely overcome. It brings to my mind a frail lady who once told me, "I can take a lot...but can you do anything about this sore place where I sit?"

I recently attended the Palliative Wound Care Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana. Health care professionals that practice palliative wound care understand quality of life on a different level than the traditional wound care provider. Compassion filled the room as Dr. Oscar Alvarez asked us to consider what we see, fell, smell during an evaluation but above all, listen to the owner. What is his goal, what does she want, to have quality of life at end of life? Something as simple as feeling free to participate in social activities and not be overpowered by the wound. Patients want a dressing that is clean and secure and will contain drainage and odor. Bandaging is an art! I teach clinicians to think of wounds as a special gift being wrapped for a very special occasion.

New EHOB Website
After months of discussion, review, brainstorming and what-ifing, EHOB is excited to share its new website, created by Indianapolis internet marketing firm Rare Bird, Inc. You'll find our new site easier to navigate with enhanced features (like our interactive international map), better product shots so you can clearly see our WAFFLE® products, easier online shopping and more. But don't take our word for how great our new site is; check it out for yourself.
