Prevention and Treatment of Pressure Ulcers Using Flotation

Dr. Tippett discusses the practical side of treating patients with Stage III and IV pressure ulcers using the appropriate flotation support surface. Evidence will be presented showing both reduction of pressure ulcer incidence, and successful treatment and healing of pressure ulcers.

Dr. Aletha Tippett has a BS in chemical engineering from the University of Missouri, and an MD from the University of Cincinnati. She is Board Certified in Family Medicine, Pain Management, Palliative Care, and Wound Care. She is a practicing solo family physician in Ohio with a primary focus on wound care, using a bioengineering approach. She spends a significant amount of time consulting in nursing homes, hospitals and the outpatient office on wound care, treating over 15,000 wounds to date. Dr. Tippett's main areas of interest in wound care are limb salvage and pressure ulcer prevention and treatment. She has been honored with numerous awards in the healthcare community and is a published author and international speaker on wound care.
