Count Down to Decreasing Pressure Ulcer Prevalence

The first study was conducted in March 2003 with a finding of 17.4% facility acquired pressure ulcer prevalence. Prompt changes were made to reduce this rate to 3.0% within 18 months at the same time showing reduced facility cost. The initial step was to establish a full time wound nurse position to lead the process.
