A static air overlay was initially brought into a 300-bed acute care facility to reduce pressure ulcer development and specialty bed rental costs. It became clear that the overlay offered many additional benefits to patients and caregivers. The overlay assisted with patient turning, transferring, mobilizing and were also used on patients in Radiology.
